DELIGHTED James Knox vowed to buy an Xbox with the prize money after he scooped first place in the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) Poster Competition Awards last night.
The 13-year-old from Portadown, Co Armagh, was presented with a €413 cheque by RTE's Marty Whelan for his entry in the 11-to-13 special category of the annual awards at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin.
The young man, who spent two weeks on his picture, said that he was "absolutely delighted" to have picked up the prize.
The theme for this year's competition was 'Local, Trusted, Serving you' and organisers said that there was no shortage of talent when it came to entries.
Two categories with five age groups in each battled it out to win first prize with a special category for participants with a physical or intellectual disability.
Derbhla Hughes from Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, won first place in the competition's 14-to-17 general category.
The winning pictures will now be used in promotional material for the ILCU.
