Crash victim (90) was leaving Mass

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a 90-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car.

Edna Dempsey of Iona Road, Glasnevin, Dublin, was hit after attending Mass at the Monastery of St Alphonsus in Drumcondra, on Tuesday.

Ms Dempsey, who is understood to be unmarried with no children, was walking home around 6.35pm and was in collision with a car at the junction of Crawford Avenue and Iona Road. She was rushed to the nearby Mater Hospital where she later died of her injuries.

The driver of the car was not injured in the accident.

Gardai at Mountjoy are urging anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them on 666 8600 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
