Daniel Murphy (23) tried to speak to his ex-girlfriend, who had broken up with him just days earlier, but her friend intervened and he threw her to the ground.

A second woman then tried to stop Murphy from speaking to his ex but he knocked her legs from under her and she fell on to the pavement.

Murphy then threw his ex-girlfriend on to the ground and grabbed her by the hair.

Sergeant Bob Kavanagh said the women suffered minor bruising, which has now healed.

The matter was before Judge Patricia McNamara for sentencing after she ordered Murphy to complete the restorative justice programme.

Judge McNamara further adjourned the case, saying she wanted details of a counselling course which Murphy recently completed. The judge said she also wanted to know how the victims are doing.

The defendant, of Rivervalley Close in Swords had previously admitted before Swords District Court to assaulting three women, who are all in their early 20s, at Forster Way in Swords on October 27, 2014.

Garda David Byrne previously said Murphy and the women became involved in a verbal altercation in Wright's Cafe Bar.

The women left the bar and Murphy followed them, which is when the assaults took place.

The court previously heard all four were on a night out and alcohol was involved.

Defence lawyer said Murphy, who has no previous convictions, apologised to the women a few days after the assaults, and was "extremely remorseful" about his behaviour.

He also said the defendant has attended counselling, and is learning to control his anger.
