Woman denies killing husband

A WOMAN will be tried later this week after pleading not guilty to the murder of her husband, who disappeared from their home more than 23 years ago.

Vera McGrath (60) appeared before the Central Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday, together with co-accused Colin Pender, who also pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

They are charged with killing father-of-four Bernard 'Brian' McGrath at Lower Coole, Coole, Co Westmeath, on a date between March 10 and April 18, 1987.

The trial is due to begin on Friday.
