TWO members of the same extended family have appeared before a court in connection with a violent incident at a hotel in which two gardai were seriously assaulted.
A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of a third relative in connection with the same incident after he failed to turn up in court.
Patrick Dinan (38) of Forest View, Gouldshill, Mallow, is accused of assaulting Garda Gillian MacEoin, causing her harm at the Quality Hotel, Killarney, Co Kerry, on May 19.
He is also accused of resisting arrest, being intoxicated in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on that date.
Superintendent Flor Murphy told Killarney District Court that more serious charges might be pending.
Mary Dinan (20), of Seamus Murphy Place, Mallow, Co Cork, is accused of being intoxicated and using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at the hotel on the same date.
Danny Dinan (18), also of Forest View, Gouldshill, Mallow, failed to appear in court. He's accused of assaulting Garda Nigel Shevlin causing him harm. He's also accused of resisting arrest, being intoxicated and using threatening or abusive behaviour.
The court heard more serious charges are pending in Danny Dinan and Mary Dinan's case.
Solicitor for the three, Padraig O'Connell, made a request for CCTV coverage from the hotel.
Judge James O'Connor remanded Patrick Dinan and Mary Dinan on bail to a sitting of the court in July.
Neither defendant is allowed to make contact with any member of the gardai at Killarney garda stations or their families.
The judge also imposed a strict curfew and ordered that they sign on once weekly at the garda station.
