Two men due before court on fuel laundering charges

Two men are due in court this morning in connection with the discovery yesterday of an oil laundering plant at Macetown, Rathfeigh, County Meath.

They will appear before Navan District Court at 10.30am.

Both men were arrested following a joint intelligence led operation between Revenue and  Gardai where fuel and ancillary equipment was seized.

The arrested men are aged 19 and 20, and were detained overnight at Navan and Ashboune Garda Stations under the Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act .

The laundering plant had the capability of producing three million litres of laundered fuel per annum with an estimated loss of €1.5 million to the exchequer.
