Two accused in publican death may have fled

TWO men who are facing trial in connection with the killing of a publican have fled the country, gardai believe.

Bench warrants were issued in June after the pair failed to appear for their trial for the unlawful killing of John Kenny (56) in Oughterard in 2011.

According to garda sources Marian Lingurar (36), with an address in Blackpool, Cork, and a 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named, may have returned to their native Romania.

Both accused were also charged with withholding information.

At the inquest into Mr Kenny's death yesterday, West Galway Coroner, Dr Ciaran MacLoughlin said that he was granting an application by the gardai to adjourn the hearing until December.
