Three men charged over dissident murder

THREE men have appeared at a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a dissident republican.

Peter Butterly was shot dead in the car park of a pub in Gormanstown in Co Meath last Wednesday afternoon.

 

Last night, Edward Mc Grath (31) of Land Dale Lawns, Springfield, Tallaght, Dublin 24, David Cullen (28) of Brackenwood Ave, Balbriggan, Co Dublin, and Dean Evans (22) of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, Dublin appeared before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.

 

Mr Evans and Mc Grath were each charged with the unlawful possession of a 9 mm calibre Beretta semi automatic pistol and seven rounds of ammunition with intent to endanger life at the car park of The Huntsman Inn.

 

They were also each charged with membership of an illegal organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Óglaigh na hÉireann on March 6th, 2013.

 

Mr Cullen was charged with the unlawful possession of a 9mm calibre Beretta semi automatic pistol at Gormanstown.

 

The court remanded all three in custody until March 14th.
