A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been barred from Dublin city-centre after he was charged with theft of a set of designer headphones from a young woman.

He is accused of criminal damage and theft of her Dr Dre Beats headphones worth €290 at Aston Quay, Dublin 2, on March 31 last.

Garda Joe Lowney told Judge Ann Ryan at the Dublin Children's Court that it would be alleged the boy “pulled them from her and damaged them”.

The 19-year-old woman was not injured but was upset, the court heard.

The teenager, who lives in north west Dublin, has not yet entered pleas to the charges, and was granted legal aid.

Judge Ryan imposed bail conditions on the boy compelling him to obey a 9pm to 8am curfew and banning him from Dublin 1 and Dublin 2 areas for the duration of his case.

The boy, who was accompanied to his hearing by his parents, replied “I was only on the bike” when he was charged.

He was ordered to appear again in four weeks.
