Teenager faces trial in school machete case

A teenager appeared in court charged with producing a machete during an alleged violent disturbance at a primary school.

The boy, now 14 but just 13 at the time of the alleged offences, is charged in connection with the disturbance at the Holy Family School in Ennis on March 20 last.

His co-accused, Conor Mahon (21) of Ballaghboy halting site, Quin Rd, Ennis, is charged with violent disorder and producing a slash hook at the same school on the same date.

The boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – appeared at Ennis District Court.

The judge returned Mahon and the teenager, who are on bail, for trial to the Circuit Court on February 12.
