A YOUTH has been charged with the murder of 32-year-old man who was stabbed to death in Dublin in 2011.

Electrician Kevin Kenny, from O’Hogan Road, Ballyfermot, was fatally stabbed outside a house on nearby Sarsfield Road, on July 31, 2011 after he had gone on a night out with friends.

He received wounds to his upper body, but managed to stagger to a local pub where the alarm was raised.

The 32-year-old was then rushed to St James's Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Following his death, eight people, four males and four females, had been held for questioning by gardaí.

This morning, Craig O''Halloran (aged 19), from Colepark Road, Ballyfermot, appeared at Dublin District Court charged with Mr Kenny's murder.

Detective Sergeant Denis Smith told Judge Victor Blake that he arrested Mr O’Halloran at his home at 10.45pm on Sunday (JAN 13) night. After being charged at Ballyfermot garda station, the youth replied “no comment”.

Dressed in a light blue jacket Mr O’Halloran remained silent and sat with his arms folded as he looked downwards during the short hearing. Members of his family watched-on from the public gallery. Legal aid was granted and he was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on January 18 next.
