TD appeals conviction over holding mobile in car

A FIANNA FAIL TD caught driving while holding a mobile phone is appealing the conviction.

John Browne, of Beechpark, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was convicted of the offence at Wexford District Court on January 5, 2010.

He was ordered to pay €400 after he was caught driving on April 27, 2009, while holding a mobile phone.

He was also fined €200 for driving while not being the holder of a current driving licence.

Mr Browne's solicitor Sinead Gleeson told the Circuit Criminal Court yesterday that her client would not be available for an appeal hearing this session due to medical reasons.

Judge Barry Hickson adjourned the appeal to November 19.
