Striking brunette still standing by her man

SHE was just 20 years old, but she was already the 'other woman'.

With her striking dark eyes and her high cheekbones, Karen Morrissey stole Fred Forsey's heart while he was still living with his wife Jenny and their three children. He was 17 years her senior but Ms Morrissey was wooed by his good looks, charm and a €2,200 engagement ring.

While her friends were busy at college or making travel plans, Ms Morrissey had tied herself down with a man crumbling under financial pressure.

Ms Morrissey, from Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford, had to deal with Forsey's angry ex-wife, embarrassing scenes in public and disappointing her parents. And that was before gardai began an investigation into corrupt payments given to Forsey.

Ms Morrissey had to grow up fast. She was engaged at 21 -- and shortly afterwards met Jenny for the first time.

The two women fought the first time they met. Forsey said there was screaming and kicking, and added that his young fiancee was "scared".

But Jenny Forsey said Ms Morrissey "gave as good as she got".

Forsey's mistress showed she is no shrinking violet when he was found guilty.

While Forsey's sobs were audible, Ms Morrissey walked to Forsey, clasped his hand and hushed him.
