Streets are safer after 'evil, cowardly' Pacteau jailed for 23 years
The parents of murdered Karen Buckley and a young Scottish woman who claimed to have been attacked by Alexander Pacteau have insisted that the streets are safer now the "evil, cowardly killer" is behind bars for 23 years.
Justice Lady Rae told Glasgow High Court Pacteau had shown little remorse for the brutal murder of the 24-year-old Irish student as she walked home alone from a Glasgow nightclub on April 12.
Karen's family, from Co Cork, said they hoped Pacteau would be "haunted" by his evil crime every day that he spends in prison.
And another young woman who had accused him of a violent sex attack, only to see him acquitted at trial, said she had finally got some form of justice.
