A FORMER sports coach has appeared in court charged with indecently assaulting a teenage boy.
Colin Goggin (49), from South Dublin, appeared briefly at Cloverhill District Court in connection with the alleged assault in the late 1980s.
Goggin was extradited in November from Spain where he had lived for the past five years and appeared in court the following day. Since then he has been in custody.
In court yesterday, Goggin, who was tanned and relaxed, remained silent while gardai asked for the case to be put back briefly to allow "clarification" of certain issues.
Judge Grainne Malone consented and remanded Goggin in custody to appear again at the same court on December 19.
He has not yet indicated how he will plead to the charge.
