A MAN who had sex with a 13-year-old he met on Bebo will be sentenced next month.
The 24-year-old Dublin man befriended the teenager through the social networking website and had sex with her twice at his family's home.
The Dublin man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two charges of defilement of a child at his home on April 29, 2011.
The details of the case were heard in October when Judge Mary Ellen Ring adjourned sentencing in order to determine what kind of treatment would be available for the man upon his release from prison.
Dr Patrick Randall previously gave evidence that he was satisfied the man did not have paedophilic tendencies but rather "gravitates towards younger people because he is more comfortable with them".
Roisin Lacey BL, prosecuting, told the court that the victim, who is now aged 15, had accepted a sum of €5,000 offered in compensation from the accused.
Judge Ring adjourned sentencing for four weeks and remanded the man in custody.
