Dr Mark Mulrooney, a senior clinical neuropsychologist at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, will examine Shaun Kelly (24) on April 26, Letterkenny Circuit Court heard.

Mr Kelly, of Ballymagann, Buncrana, was the driver of the car in which seven of his friends died and a pensioner returning from bingo was also killed.

Barrister Patricia McLaughlin, for the DPP, yesterday told Judge Keenan Johnson that Dr Mulrooney will examine Mr Kelly on April 26 and make his report after that. Mr Kelly appeared in court as did several family members of those killed in the crash on July 11, 2010, at Clonmany, Inishowen.

Judge Johnson said he was very anxious to have the matter dealt with.
