A man (40) and woman (43) arrested on the M1 near Drogheda yesterday are expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court this afternoon charged in connection with a €4m heroin haul.
A third man (40) arrested in connection with the drugs investigation remains in custody at Drogheda Garda Station.
An articulated lorry was stopped by officers yesterday in what they described as an intelligence-led operation.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 27 kilos of heroin. The large haul has an estimated street value of €4.05m, say detectives. It has been sent for forensic tests.
In a separate operation last night, more than €2m worth of cocaine was recovered in Dublin.
The two men who were detained at Blackrock Garda Station in relation to the drug seizure on Stillorgan Road are scheduled to appear at The Criminal Courts of Justice at this afternoon charged in connection with this seizure.
