A 19-year-old Leitrim man is due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court tomorrow charged with murdering a 73-year-old man in Cavan in 2010.

Brendan McGovern of Killahurk, Carrigallen, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of John Golden on October 6, 2010.

The pensioner is understood to have sustained the alleged fatal injuries at his home in Nedd, Doogarry, Killeshandra, Co Cavan.

The trial, expected to last six to seven days, was due to start today before a jury of six men and six women.

However, it was adjourned until tomorow due to the unavailability of a trial judge.
