A judge has warned a mother who supplied drugs to her son in prison, that she faces nine months in jail if she does it again.
Margaret Purcell (48) appeared before Limerick District Court yesterday and was convicted of supplying her son with cannabis and tablets when she visited him at Limerick Prison where he was an inmate on December 3, 2012.
The court heard Ms Purcell's son, who was not named in court, asked his mother to bring the drugs into jail after he was threatened he would be "stabbed to death" by fellow prisoners.
She received a nine-month prison sentence, which presiding judge Eugene O'Kelly suspended.
