Manslaughter charges are dropped

CHARGES have been dropped against one of the men accused of killing father-of-one Ciaran Noonan two years ago.

Mr Noonan, who was living in Ashbourne, Co Meath, but was originally from the East Wall area in Dublin, was last seen getting into a car at Russell Avenue on October 20, 2011.

The remains of the 29-year-old were discovered a fortnight later near Trim, Co Meath.

David Geraghty (27), of Coolock Drive, Coolock, was due to go on trial in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court charged with the false imprisonment and manslaughter of Mr Noonan. But Brendan Grehan, prosecuting, entered a nolle prosequi, meaning both charges against Mr Geraghty have been dropped.
