Man who lent shotgun out walks free

A MAN who gave another man a shotgun to defend himself from his partner's ex has escaped jail at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Peter Little (34), of Millbrook Lawns, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to possession of a pump action shotgun and four shotgun cartridges in November 2002 at Scholars Public House, Firhouse, Dublin 24.

His co-accused Patrick Harrison (36), of Cushlawn Walk, Tallaght, was jailed for four years in 2004 for possession of a shotgun and ammunition.

Judge Patricia Ryan sentenced Little to three years' jail, but suspended the sentence.

Harrison was on the way to return the gun to Little when he was intercepted by gardai on November 22, 2002.
