A BANK statement in a discarded rubbish bag identified a man who had dumped it, Dublin District Court was told today.
Sunny Sehrawat, of Carton Way, Poppintree, Dublin, was convicted of disposing of household litter bags at St Margaret Roads, Ballymun, Dublin, on 12 July last year.
Ms Mary Garrick, a prosecution solicitor for Fingal County Council, told Judge John O’Neill that the bank statement had been found by the local authority’s litter wardens while they were sifting through discarded waste for clues as to ownership.
Litter warden Anthony Law told the court that five bags had been found.
He said Fingal County Council had issued the legal proceedings after Mr Sehrawat had failed to pay a €150 fine imposed under the Litter Pollution Act.
Judge O’Neill convicted Mr Sehrawat, who did not appear in court and had no previous conviction, and imposed a €300 fine along with €150 legal costs.
