A 32-year-old man, named as Jonathan Gill, is to appear before a sitting of Drogheda District Court this evening charged in connection with a tiger kidnapping.
The man was arrested this morning in the Dublin area at his address on the Malahide Road, in Coolock, North Dublin.
In August 2011 an An Post employee, his partner and their child were abducted from their home in Drogheda, Co Louth.
A number of men, at least one of them armed, held the family there for a number of hours before they were all taken to another location.
The An Post official went to the Post Office at West Street Drogheda, and operating under duress went to a second location and handed over a sum of money.
Gardai became aware of the incident as it was unfolding and a comprehensive response team was put in place involving both local and national units.
