Man sent crude text messages to schoolboy

A MAN will be sentenced in April for sending crude text messages with a strong sexual content to a 15-year-old boy.

Dubliner Kenneth Shortall (48), of Bluebell Avenue, Bluebell, pleaded guilty to five charges of sending grossly offensive, indecent or obscene messages in November 2010.

One read: "I'm as horny as hell and I text you for saying what I want and I don't hear anything from you?"

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard gardai were satisfied that some of the 61 messages were crude jokes.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring said she understood banter between 15-year-old boys but, said Shortall was considerably older and that fact was very concerning.

She adjourned the case to next April, remanded Shortall on continuing bail and ordered a probation report.
