Sergeis Krauze (right), a Latvian national with an address at Dudley Heights, Glenamaddy, Co Galway, was remanded in custody when he appeared before a special sitting of Tuam District Court in Galway city yesterday.

Mr Krauze was charged with withholding information in connection with the disappearance of Juris Buls (30), who was last seen at his house at Ballymore Road in Glenamaddy on July 7, when he left for work at Titan Plastics in the town.

Gardai discovered a body on Saturday in woods close to the village of Creggs, about 10km from where Mr Buls lived.

Gardai opposed a bail application from Mr Krauze. Judge Geoffrey Browne refused bail and remanded Mr Krauze in custody to appear before the court tomorrow.
