Man hit victim with hurley in 'Facebook fight'

A YOUNG man used a hurley to attack a teenage boy during a fight that had been pre-arranged on Facebook, a court has heard.

Michael Norris (19) told gardai he intervened in the fight because of a call for help that he received from his friend, who had arranged the meet-up with the victim.

Norris, of Swans Nest Avenue, Kilbarrack, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assault causing harm to the then 15-year-old at St Annes Park, Raheny, on January 4, 2012.

Judge Desmond Hogan said he was not considering a custodial sentence and put the matter back until October to see if Norris would stay out of trouble until then.
