Man charged in relation to €124k ATM theft

A digger was used to remove an ATM machine from the Bank of Ireland.

A man has been charged in relation to the theft of €124,300 from an ATM in Co Sligo in January.

Gardai investigating the theft of an ATM machine in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo on the 29th of January arrested a 42-year-old man yesterday.

A digger was used to remove the ATM machine from the Bank of Ireland in the town.

He was taken to Ballymote Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The man was later charged and appeared before a special sitting of Carrick on Shannon District Court earlier this afternoon.

He made no reply when the charges were put to him.

He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear before Hartstown District Court on Friday.
