Man appears – 14 years after warrant issued
A man who had a bench warrant issued 14 years ago for a robbery charge has appeared before a court after being stopped by gardai for suspected traffic offences.
Judge Martin Nolan compared the arresting gardai to the Royal Canadian Mounted police who are famous for "always getting their man".
Stephen Connors (32), of Belcamp Lane, Belcamp, Dublin, was brought before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on foot of a bench warrant issued in 1998 for an offence of robbery.
No objection was made to bail on condition that Mr Connors, who had been living outside the country, sign on at Coolock garda station three days a week.
