A MAN accused of petrol bombing his local garda station will be sent forward for trial.

Joe Bartlett (25), of Deerpark Crescent, Deerpark, Killarney, Co Kerry, was remanded on bail to appear before Killarney District Court again later this month when the book of evidence will be served.

He is accused of arson at Killarney garda station on August 2 when a home-made petrol bomb was thrown at an outside wall.

The incident occurred at around 7.15am and caused a small fire outside the station.

Gardai were able to bring the fire under control themselves and the building did not have to be evacuated.

At a previous court sitting, Mr Bartlett was released on bail on his own bond of €1,000 with a number of strict conditions.

Gardai can bring him before the court immediately if he is found to be in breach of any of the bail conditions.

At Killarney District Court yesterday, Judge James O'Connor further remanded him on bail to the December 17 sitting of the court.
