Man (53) denies teen sex assault

A TEENAGER has claimed she was sexually assaulted by a man after she passed out from alcohol he gave her.

The girl, who was 14 when the alleged assault occurred in November 2010, told Tralee Circuit Criminal Court she had drunk a naggin of vodka earlier that night and had ended up in the man's house where he gave her two pints of cider.

She was giving evidence in the trial of Joe Gamble (53), of Upper Park Road, Killarney, Co Kerry, who denies 10 counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of teenagers.

The girl alleges she woke up in a bed in Mr Gamble's house to find him "topless" and sitting on the bed.

She claims he rubbed her stomach and made comments to her of a sexual nature.

Another female who was in the house on the night said in a statement that the girl had vomited and had removed some clothes so they could be washed.

The girl told the court she decided to "go drinking" and gave someone the money to buy her a naggin of Huzzar vodka.

She said she went for a drive with Mr Gamble in his car and later ended up going to his house where he gave her more alcohol.

The case continues today.
