Man (52) due to be charged in connection with murder of Ann Nancy Smith in 1987

A man in his 50s is due to appear at a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court charged in relation to the murder of Ann Nancy Smyth on September 11th 1987 at Wolfe Tone Street, Kilkenny.
The 52-year-old man was arrested this evening in Kilkenny city and he was brought to Kilkenny Garda station where he was subsequently charged with murder.
Ann Nancy Smyth, a 79-year-old widow, living alone was found dead at her home at 42A Wolfe Tone Street, Kilkenny on 11th September 1987.
The man, who is currently detained at Kilkenny Garda station, will appear at a special sitting of Kilkenny District court at courthouse Parliament Street, Kilkenny at 9.30am tomorrow.
