Sean Enright (33) allegedly punched and kicked the other man on the ground at Lillie's Bordello in the incident.

The case against him was adjourned at Dublin District Court after a judge said he needed a clear, up-to-date prognosis on the alleged victim.

Enright, with an address at Rusheeney Manor, Clonsilla, is charged with assault causing harm to a man at Lillie's Bordello, Grafton Street, on December 17, 2011.

The court heard it was alleged that
the man was standing outside the
premises when the accused came out, approached him and knocked him to the ground.

The prosecution alleged Enright "kicked and thumped him a number of times" while he was on the ground.

The defendant would maintain he himself was struck in an earlier incident and suffered a head injury that required six stitches, his lawyer said. A State solicitor said this was not accepted by the prosecution.

Judge Michael Walsh said the prognosis was "uncertain" and the alleged victim was not in court.

He said he required more information before deciding whether to accept jurisdiction to deal with the case and adjourned it.
