Jury in ‘threat to kill’ case discharged

THE jury in the trial of a man accused of making threats for money has being discharged.

Thomas McConnell (28) of Dunemer Rise, Lusk, has pleaded not guilty to seven charges, including demanding money with menace from Joanne Daly at her home on Shangan Road., Ballymun on three occasions in July and August.



He has also pleaded not guilty to producing a hammer during the course of a fight at Shangan Road on August 9, 2011 and to making a threat to kill Louise Sheridan on August 23.



Finally he has pleaded not guilty to harassing Ms Daly at her home between July 29 and August 23, 2011 and to criminal damage at her home on August 23.



On the third day of the trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court Judge Mary Ellen Ring told the jury that the trial is not ready to continue.



She remanded the accused on continuing bail to appear again before her today to set a new trial date.
