Inquest told no prosecution in binman death
THERE will be no prosecution following the death of a man who was trapped in a waste disposal truck, an inquest heard.
Gardai said its joint investigation with the Health and Safety Authority has been completed, but a file was sent to the DPP who recommended that no further action be taken.
The inquest into the death of refuse collector Jacek Ungeheuer (57) was opened at Dublin Coroner's Court yesterday.
Mr Ungeheuer, from Poland but living in Drimnagh, Dublin, became trapped in the back of an OZO bin truck at Grand Canal Dock last October 4.
He was discovered by a passer-by who heard shouting coming from the inside of the truck and pressed the emergency button before raising the alarm.
He was taken to St James's Hospital where he later died.
