A 14-YEAR-OLD boy, who is in care, has been charged with taking part in a burglary at a woman's home in south Dublin last week.

The teenager appeared at the Children's Court today where Judge Ann Ryan was told that he is accused of burglary at a house on July 22.

The court heard that it would be alleged that was seen jumping on to a street from a house before he fled.

A woman later reported to gardai that her home had been burgled. “The accused and an accomplice gained entry via a roof and entered a garage and attempted to open the back door,” the court was told.

The teenager, who was accompanied to his hearing by his mother and a care worker, was remanded on bail for four weeks when he is to enter a plea to the charge.

Defence solicitor Gareth Noble told the court that the boy “is the subject of an emergency care order”. There are on-going proceedings in relation to his welfare before the childcare courts, the judge was also told.
