Hotel pays girl €5,500 for dog bite

A GIRL who was bitten by a dog in a hotel when she was just eight has settled a damages claim for €5,500.

The Circuit Civil Court heard yesterday that Ciara Hill, above, of Abbeywood Avenue, Lucan, Co Dublin, was a guest in Finnstown House Hotel, Co Dublin, when the incident happened.

Mr Justice Matthew Deery, President of the Circuit Court, was told Ciara, who is now aged 12, was in the hotel on July 17, 2007 when she was attacked and bitten by a dog owned by the hotel.

Ciara, who sued FTC Hotel Ltd., Finnstown, Newcastle Road, Lucan, Co Dublin, through her mother, Marie Hill, had been "traumatised, shocked and upset" by the incident.

Judge Deery said that her injuries had not been significant and had resolved quickly.
