'Glassed' pub-goer loses action against club that let attacker in

A MAN who lost the sight in one eye after he was glassed in the face has lost a High Court action against a social club where the incident happened.

David Blake (43), of Sarah Place, Island Bridge, Dublin, sued Ballyfermot United Sports and Social Club.

Sean Callaghan, of Decies Road, Ballyfermot, was convicted and sentenced in relation to the unprovoked attack on January 12, 2007, the court heard.

High Court President Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said Mr Blake was entitled to recover damages from Callaghan but the case against the club must fail.
