German admits helping to hide plasterer's body

A GERMAN national who pleaded guilty to assisting with the removal and concealment of a man's body is to be sentenced next February.

Joachim Pohl (28), with an address at 12 Linton Place, Kilkenny, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to knowing/or believing Armin Wielderhold, of the same address, committed an offence and pleaded to assisting with the removal and concealment of the body of Mr Thomas Thompson of Borris Road, Portlaoise, Co Laois, on April 20-21, 2007.

He also pleaded guilty to the removing of the personal affects of Mr Thomas from his house.

Mr Thomas (59), originally from Yorkshire, England, had worked as a plastering contractor here for several years.

Mr Justice Paul Carney remanded Pohl on continuing bail for sentencing next February 4.
