Gardai capture one escaped prisoner (18), another (22) remains at large

Gardai have apprehended one of the two male prisoners to have absconded from Ennis courthouse earlier today.

The 18-year-old man was brought into Ennis courthouse just before 5pm today after walking out the back door of Ennis court house at 3.15pm.

He was one of 12 prisoners remanded to appear before today’s sitting of Ennis District Court.

He was apprehended by gardai in the Clarecastle area two miles away.

A second man, aged 22, also walked out the back door of the building and made a run for freedom remains at large.

The 22-year-old had his dangerous driving case dealt with earlier in court where Judge Patrick Durcan heard that he sped away at 140km from a pursuing garda in a chase along the M18 motorway in April of this year.
