A Dublin man will indicate next month how he will plead to an allegation of violent disorder in a pub in the city.
Frederick Thompson (33) appeared in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court this morning after he was sent forward from the District Court earlier this month . Mr Thompson of Loreto Road, Maryland, Dublin 8, has been charged with engaging in violent disorder along with two other named men at Morrissey’s Pub, Cork Street on January 7, 2013.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring set a arraignment date for June 20 when the accused will enter a plea or have a trial date set.
Prosecuting counsel James Dwyer BL also asked the court to remind the press that Mr Thompson’s case is sub-judice and that the accused enjoys the presumption of innocence.
The judge said that any reporting that jeopardises Mr Thompson’s trial could result in contempt of court proceedings, “including locking people up if I have to.”
