A SECOND county councillor has fallen foul of the law in as many weeks for serving customers on his licensed premises after hours.
Fianna Fail's Michael O'Shea was fined €750 arising out of celebrations in his pub, O'Shea's Bar in Milltown, Co Kerry, following the local GAA club's success in the Munster intermediate club final last year.
Mr O'Shea, who is on Kerry County Council, pleaded guilty to the offence on December 12 last, when 30 people were found on the premises at 2.40am.
Last week, Independent councillor Danny Healy-Rae was ordered to make a contribution of €800 to the court poor box when he admitted the same offence at his pub in Kilgarvan, Co Kerry, last December.
Judge James O'Connor said a voluntary contribution of €300 to the court poor box was too low but agreed to strike out the charges if €750 was paid.
