A father and his two sons have appeared in court charged with slavery offences following an investigation at a Travellers' site.

Daniel Doran (66) and his sons David Dan Doran (41) and Thomas Anthony Doran (36) are all accused of false imprisonment, allegedly between April 10, 2000 and March 1, 2013.

They are also accused of conspiracy to hold another person in slavery or servitude and conspiracy to require a person to perform forced or compulsory labour, both said to have been committed between April 6, 2010 and March 1, 2013.

Daniel Doran and David Dan Doran, both of Cariad Farm, Peterstone, Gwent, and Thomas Doran, of Shire Newton Caravan Site, Coast Road, Cardiff, appeared at Cwmbran Magistrates' Court in Gwent.

The charges relate to Darrell Simester, from Kidderminster, Worcestershire, who went missing 13 years ago. He was found living in poor conditions on Cariad Farm, a Traveller site in Gwent earlier this year.

The trio will appear before Newport Crown Court on October 3.
