Families forced out of estate by harassment

TWO families were forced to leave a housing estate due to harassment from a threatening neighbour, a court has heard.
The families, who were living either side of Georg Poppmeier (53), of Rheban Manor, Athy, Co Kildare, said they couldn't cope with cameras being pointed into their gardens and his out-of-control behaviour, which included wielding an axe as he threatened to kill a teenager.
At Athy District Court, Judge John Lindsay found Poppmeier guilty on two counts of harassment and two of threatening to kill neighbours and bound him to the peace for three years.
Mark Lynam, for Poppmeier, suggested there was a conspiracy between the neighbours.
Judge Lindsay ordered that Poppmeier have no contact with either of his former neighbours or their families.
