A DUBLIN court sitting was suspended this morning when the public area was extensively soiled after a man vomited.

Blanchardstown District Court shut for more than an hour as a cleanup took place following the incident.

Defendants and members of the public were entering Courtroom 1 in the building following the hearing of a juvenile case which had been taken place in camera before Judge Miriam Walsh.

While people took their seats, an unidentified man vomited in the back of the courtroom and continued to do so throughout the foyer as he left.

Gardai were unaware of his identity but a man was seen leaving the courthouse in a tracksuit covered in vomit moments later.

The court opened again shortly after midday and the day's sitting resumed. A large area in the foyer remained cordoned off and surrounded by garda tape.
