A father of one, who said he took part in a drug deal involving €420,000 worth of cocaine to get money for Christmas, has been jailed for three years.
Shane Cronin (35) was arrested after handing over a bag containing 2kg of cocaine to another man. His co-accused, Paul McGuinness (33), was arrested after gardai found 4kg of cocaine in a house.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that Cronin was trying to "get a few more pounds together for Christmas"
The two accused, both of Killinarden Estate, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply at Killinarden on September 3, 2009. Cronin was sentenced to five years, with two suspended. McGuinness got a term of three years, with six months suspended.
