Drink drive guilty plea from Keane
LEGENDARY folk singer Dolores Keane yesterday pleaded guilty to drink driving, writes Greg Harkin.
A charge of careless driving was being withdrawn by the State, Glenties District Court in Donegal heard yesterday.
It is the second time in six months that Ms Keane (58) has admitted to drink driving.
Last December she was banned from driving for three years at Galway District Court for a drink-drive offence in November 2010.
That court was told she had a conviction for a previous similar offence in June 2000.
At Glenties yesterday, defence solicitor Rory O'Brien told Judge Paul Kelly: "I can confirm Ms Keane is entering a plea of guilty to the charge of drink-driving."
Judge Kelly adjourned sentence on Ms Keane, of Caherlistrane, Tuam, Co Galway, to June 27.
