DPP warned over case against 'Anglo Avenger'

Tom Tuite

A JUDGE has given the State a last chance to get directions from the DPP in the case of a property developer charged in relation to a cherry-picker protest outside Leinster House.

Joe McNamara (41) could see the case struck out if the DPP directions are not available in five weeks' time.

Mr McNamara, of Dun na Carraige, Blackrock, Co Galway, who reportedly owes Anglo Irish Bank €3.5m, had been charged at Dublin District Court with dangerous driving on the morning of December 7 last year. A cherry picker was parked outside Leinster House just hours before former finance minister Brian Lenihan made his Budget speech.

Mr McNamara will appear in court again on May 10.
