Document sent anonymously to DPP delays trial

An anonymous document sent to the DPP has delayed the trial of a Dublin man who was arrested on charges connected to an alleged surveillance operation on the Dublin headquarters of a number of specialist garda units, writes Brian Kavanagh.

Corey Mulhall (41) was arrested in September 2012 after detectives observed suspicious activity at a hotel close to Harcourt Square garda station. The station is home to the Special Detective Unit, whose tasks include monitoring the activities of dissident republicans.

At the Special Criminal Court Mr Mulhall, of Daletree Court, Ballycullen, pleaded not guilty to membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the IRA on September 26, 2012. The trial was put back until today.
