Date is set for nun abuse trial

The trial of a nun facing 87 sex abuse charges will take two weeks and will be held next month, a court has heard.

Judge Tony Hunt told the accused woman at Sligo Circuit Court that her trial would begin on November 13.

A number of people who claim they were victims of the nun were in court yesterday. The nun was remanded on continuing bail.

The case was transferred from another county. The transfer followed legal steps taken by the nun. Neither she nor the location of the alleged offences can be named by court order.
